Finding the Right NoBark Collar for Your Hunting Dog

Posted by The SportDOG Staff

Our NoBark Collars are famous for helping teach your dog when to be silent, but how do you know which one is right for your gun dog? We offer three models of NoBark collars to allow you to pick the best solution for your dog. Below are some helpful tips for choosing the right fit for your dog.

First off, it’s important to know the features you’ll get regardless of what model you choose, and then we’ll break down the differences. All three of our bark collars are waterproof and submersible. This ensures these collars will work for you in any environment. They feature the same patented bark detection as well, our Silent Partner™ technology - ensuring it corrects only when your dog barks, and not for anything else. This technology learns your dog’s unique bark and filters out all the rest, providing the most consistent training possible so your dog will learn quickly and easily. The collars feature a low battery warning to let you know when to charge or change the battery, a safety time-out to prevent over-correction, and they are on a durable strap to make sure they don’t pick up any bad odors.

Lastly, all our NoBark collars feature Progressive Correction. This operating mode delivers the lowest level of static stimulation when your dog first barks, and then raises it one level each time your dog barks again. If your dog is quiet for 30 seconds, it will reset back to that first level. Most people love this mode because it allows their dog to give a couple warning barks before the static level gets high enough to deter them from barking.

Now that you know the similarities, let’s look at their differences:

NoBark SBC-8 - Basic Bark Control Collar

This is our introductory model. It gives you those premium features but at a value price point. It features 8 levels of static stimulation, and it takes a replaceable battery that will last you 200 hours of use. Because it only has progressive correction, there’s no programming required. Setup involves turning the collar on and fitting it to your dog. If you’re into something simple but effective, this is your model.

NoBark SBC-10 - Rechargeable Bark Control Collar

This model is a step up from the SBC-8. We’ve added rechargeability, given it more levels of stimulation, and an additional operating mode for just $20 more. You’ll get the same 200 hours of operation between charges, it features 10 levels of static stimulation, and you’ll have more flexibility in training style with the addition of the User-Select operating mode. What's special about User-Select mode? You can choose what level the collar delivers when your dog barks. So, if you have a stubborn or high-drive dog that barks through the lower levels of Progressive Correction, you can set it to deliver a higher level every time. This works the other way as well. If you have a very timid dog, and you don't want the collar to ever go higher than a level two, for example, you can set the collar to only deliver that level. So, if you’re looking for more features than the base level or need that customization for your dog, this is your pick.

NoBark SBC-R - Premium Bark Control Collar

The SBC-R is our flagship model. It’s rechargeable, easy to program with an OLED screen, and features three operating modes, adding Temperament Learning to the User-Select and Progressive Correction modes we’ve already talked about. This new mode is for those dogs that learn they can bark a few times, pause for 30 seconds to let the collar reset, and do it again, repeating this enough to still be nuisance barking. This mode learns what level they stop barking at and sets itself there, without having to be programmed. Choosing this mode, or any of the other modes, is easy with the OLED screen. It displays the current mode, the battery life, and the static stimulation level selected for User-Select mode. If you want these extra features that only a top-of-the-line model offers, this is it.
