SportDOG Brand’s Chris Akin and Boomer Take Super Retriever Series “Team of the Year” Honors

Jun.15

SportDOG Brand™, a manufacturer of electronic sporting dog training gear, is a charter, premier sponsor and exclusive e-collar sponsor of the event. SportDOG Brand™ is also the Team of the Year sponsor, offering prize money of $5,000 for first place, $1,500 for second place, $750 for third place, $500 for fourth place and $250 for fifth place. As an added incentive, SportDOG Brand™ offers another $1,950 in bonus money to top finishers who wear a SportDOG Brand™ logo patch or hat.

“The fact we sponsor this exciting event makes it a real treat to have Chris and Boomer win SportDOG Team of the Year,” said Lance Tracy, SportDOG Brand™ Director. “Chris was one of the first pro-staffers we hired when we started SportDOG, and he’s proven his value time and time again. This is just one more reason for us to be proud of him.”
The Super Retriever Series consists of three hunt-test-style events, nationally televised on ESPN2’s “outdoors block” of programming. The 2005 circuit consisted of events in El Campo, Texas; Loudoun County, Virginia; and Stuttgart, Arkansas. Each event hosted 75 handler/dog teams who were assigned points based on their order of finish (i.e. the handler/dog team with fewest faults in three days of competing receives 75 points; the team with the second fewest faults receives 74 points, etc.).

The top 12 teams participated in the Crown Championship event, held in Hot Springs, Arkansas, June 10-11. Akin and Boomer finished third in the championship. SportDOG Brand™ field-staffer Stacey West and his Lab Abbie finished fourth.
