Make sure you keep your receipt...your lifetime warranty is 2 years. If you don't have your receipt...replacement price is high. If you think paying a higher price means a better quality product??? Wrong. Batteries do not keep a decent charge..and to buy a replacement battery costs way too much. [...] You are warned.

400S is worth every penny!

The 400S is worth every penny! I purchased the 400S about 5 months ago for my Australian Sheppard puppy Mazi, who would not listen and was out of control. Mazi was going to be given away or sent to the pound. I purchased a remote sonic trainer and whistle, which were a waste of money. I love the pup and did not want to get rid of her so I did some research on electronic collars and even called SportDog customer service prior to my purchase. I made an investment and commitment in my dog and the 400S. I charged the unit up and began using it as directed and saw immediate results. Mazi is a different dog; she is now the perfect family dog. Mazi loves to swim and I have no worries as its 100% waterproof. I believe there would be less dog injured or in shelters if owners would make the initial investment in an electronic remote trainer.

I had originally purchased the subborn dog yard trainer but found for my boxer/heeler mix that the distance wasn't far enough. When Hulu locks in on something and takes off he's gone! So I upgraded to to this product. It's been great! I love the fact that it's rechargable. Hulu has been doing real well with it. We work everyday training together & now he walks off leash right next to me & runs next to my bike when we go for bike rides. I also use hand signals and sounds first to train Hulu & then use the collar if he is not obeying. He used to chase cars, charge strangers, and chase our cats (only some of his less desirable behaviors). He's learning to trust my judgement & look to me for leadership before he does anything. Even eat his food. I keep the transmitter set on 1 & have never had to use anything over 4. This particular unit has different programs to suit your training needs and can control up to 3 collars. For us I found that tone only, shock @ level set,& shock @ 2 levels above set is the best training mode. Furthermore I had to contact sportdog cuz I had a some problems with the yard trainer (bought it used off [...]). They were awesome about it even knowing I bought it used and sent me a new unit for a fraction of the MSRP. Then I bought this one and sold the other to my sister who has been having great results with her hyperactive cocker-spaniel (she doesn't need the extended distance like I do).

I use this product for my 2 year old Siberian Husky. Anyone who knows the breed knows it's virtually impossible to train them off-leash because of their strong instinct to run.Since using this product, he is a completely different dog. His quality of life has been greatly improved. We only use it on the lowest level of stimulation and it's great for off-leash field time as well as obedience training.The battery life is slightly lacking, but to me it is a good trade-off.

My Chesapeake Bay Retriever was fully trained but off leash was stubborn and willful. I followed the conditioning instructions and the change was immediate. She practically transformed overnight. The behavior changes are apparent even with the collar off. She is happy to put the collar on and never has exhibited any signs of stress or anxiety. She is a happier dog , I am confident in her behavior and I wish I had bought this a year ago.The overall transformation is absolutely amazing. Even though she is 80 lbs. I have never gone above the number 2. We put the leash away after 2 weeks and have not needed it since. It is a communication method that a smart dog really responds to.

nice system... when it works. Had to have multiple collars and one remote replaced. The warranty only cover defects for 1 year. After the initial year you need to pay close to full price for each replacement collar and remote. Seem to be poorly built.

This is the only method of tranning that worked for my 2 year old pit bull. He has a one tracked mind and it makes it so that my 4 year old can walk the dog not the dog walking him the beep is all that is needed if you follow the training dvd.
