Lyle Steinman
Stewartsville, MO
Background:
Lyle Steinman began competing at the tender age of 8 years old. He traveled all over the United States showing cattle. While showing cattle Lyle won over 300 championships on the county, state and national levels. In 1982 at the Missouri State Fair he was award the Grand Champion Showman award beating out 432 showman.
Lyle started running UKC Night Hunts with his coon dogs as a teenager and has since then went on to become one of the best retriever trainers in the country. Lyle competed with labs as an amateur for many years before turning pro. Since turning pro in 2003, Lyle has many accomplishments under his belt. Lyle has over 1200 AKC Master Passes and over 70 AKC Master (MH) titled dogs in the hunt test game; he has qualified a record 37 dogs at the Master National. He has 5 dogs in the Master National Hall of Fame (HOF) and 8 Master National Hunters (MNH) to his credit.
Lyle first ran the SRS in the fall of 2006. Lyle has 3 first place wins (including the Crown Championship), 4 second places, and 3 fifth places. Lyle won the SRS Crown Championship in 2007 with his dog River. At the 2008 Crown Championship, he placed 3rd and 4th with Coot and Jack. Lyle also won the 2008 Sport Dog Team of the year award with Jack. Since November 2006 Lyle has won close to $ 100,000 in cash and prizes.
Lyle is the only SRS handler to ever win 1st and 2nd place in the same event (Reno,NV) (SRS Record) and the only handler to ever have 5 dogs qualified for the top 12 at one time (Huntsville,AL). Lyle has put more dogs in the Top 5 than any other handler in Super Retriever history. Lyle qualified 4 dogs for the 2008 Crown Championship (SRS Record).

When Lyle is not training, he cherishes his time with his wife and children. Lyle and his wife, Debby, live in Gower Missouri. They have three daughters, Samantha 21, Katherine 16, and Amanda 9. Samantha is interested in photography and is a senior at Kansas State. Katie is a junior at East Buchanan High School, loves softball, and wants to be a vet in the future. Amanda is a carbon copy of Lyle. Amanda loves to train and watch her dad on the VS channel and is in the fourth grade at E.B. Elementary School. Lyle loves to train and enjoys cooking for friends and family. The Steinman home is always open.
